Supervision of Medical Activities
All medical services and related activities pertaining to the welfare of Guatemalan citizens and performed by project volunteers are conducted under the authority and direction of the District Medical Office and health ministries. Direct on-site supervision of project participants (medical students, nurses, and allied health professionals) will be provided by approved, licensed physicians from participating programs or by in-country physicians and other trained practitioners as designated by the District Medical Officer.
The District Medical Officer will receive periodic reports on the scope of care being provided. Medical care may be provided by volunteers in District villages but only with on-site medical supervision as determined and approved by the District Medical Officer. Any adverse medical events that occur shall be immediately reported to the District Medical Officer.
